Commander of the Georgian National Legion, Mamuka Mamulashvili was awarded the Order of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious.

The Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church established the Order of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victoriuos for services to the church and the nation in 2020. Among the recepients of this award are the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi and the Chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Major General Kyrylo Budanov.

The Georgian National Legion is a military volunteer formation created in 2014 at the beginning of the Russian aggression in Ukraine. This is the largest foreign contingent in the Armed Forces of the country. The fighters of the Georgian Legion, which is part of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, perform special tasks in all hot spots of the South-Eastern front, defending the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine from Russian invaders.
