Yesterday evening we went to De Balie in Amsterdam for @P_Kallioniemi 'Russia's hybrid war' presentation and let me tell you my take on what I've seen.
De Balie was sold out, every seat taken, which says to me there is great need for information and people are looking to understand what's going on and seeking some solution.
The people in the audience were on the educated side and had some interesting questions and we even had the one russian plant bringing up the nuclear threat which made me say 'here's one fellas' 😊 the same guy was all over Pekka after the talk just chatting him up a storm.
Clearly the civilians understand there is danger coming and are looking at the authorities for solutions but I believe there's none coming because they are unable to come up with a decent strategy.
Pekka spoke about the need for education and I asked him to take a closer look at the work we have been doing with the @NafoForum project.
I went to De Balie with the intention of asking a certain politician for funding for our project but unfortunately he didn't show up. Which makes me think we're never going to get what we need from the government.
Which brings me to this: I have been struggling with this conundrum for some time. How to ask for money for the Forum project when we want every penny to the frontline? Is asking for donations to fund the project a good thing for NAFO and Ukraine or is it just diverting funds?
I guess it will fall on all of you to make that decision. I cannot ask you to spend less on Ukraine. What I will have to do is ask you to dig even deeper and send me that extra tank of gas. I will have to ask you to give up something else so we can have your extra five bucks.
The Forum or any other projects bringing education to the public is an absolute necessity and even if we don't do my project something should be done regardless.
As far as I am concerned I will keep going with the Forum project. It is moving very slowly because we are all volunteers working in our spare time from every time zone out there. Having funding would make it move much faster because you can plan better.
I cannot bring myself to ask for your donation so I will continue to search for funding and support from the government and other avenues. I will keep working on the project to bring it to a usable form and shape it for the future. If you can join me you know where to find me.
